When it works
If the old surface is sound, level and well drained, a new layer can often go on top.
Tarmac and concrete
Sound tarmac or concrete can make a base for resin. Tarmac can be overlaid with a new wearing course.
Block paving
Block paving is not usually a good base for resin because it can move. It may be better to lift and relay.
When it has to come up
Cracks, sinking, tree roots, poor drainage or the wrong levels mean the old driveway should be removed.
How we decide
We inspect the surface and tell you honestly what is possible. See driveway installation.
