Resin Driveways across London
Resin driveways combine natural aggregate with a UV-stable resin. The result is a hard-wearing surface in a wide range of colours that looks tidy straight away and stays tidy with very little effort. They suit front gardens, side access, paths and patios as well as drives.
There are two main systems. Resin bound mixes the stone and resin together and trowels them on, giving a smooth, permeable finish. Resin bonded spreads resin over the base and scatters stone on top, giving a rougher, textured finish. We install both and explain which suits you.

Why people choose resin
- A smooth, clean finish with no loose stones, weeds or moss in the joints
- A permeable resin bound surface that lets rainwater drain through
- A wide choice of colours and stone types to suit the house
- No sweeping or weeding, just an occasional wash down
- A good option where an old, cracked surface needs to be replaced

How we install a resin driveway
Resin is only as good as the base underneath. We check the existing surface, repair or replace it where needed, and where a new base is required we build it to suit the system: a porous base for a permeable resin bound drive, or a sealed, stable base where bonded resin is used.
The resin and aggregate are mixed in controlled batches and laid in dry conditions, because moisture and low temperatures can cause problems. We work to a pattern of fall that keeps water moving off the surface, and leave a clean, even finish with tidy edges.

Not sure which surface suits your property?
Resin, tarmac, block paving or stone: each has strengths. Tell us about your space and budget and we will recommend the right one and quote for it in writing.
Resin bound or resin bonded?
Resin bound is smoother, more comfortable to walk on and usually permeable, so it is the one most people choose for a front garden. Resin bonded is more textured and usually cheaper, but because it normally sits on a sealed base it needs a drainage plan. Read our comparison of resin bound and resin bonded or our resin driveway cost guide.
What affects the cost?
Resin driveway prices depend on the system (bound or bonded), the stone you choose, the area, the condition of the base and the access. A resin driveway usually costs more than tarmac and less than many natural stone options. We give a free written quote after measuring up, and we explain what is included.

Resin Driveways FAQs
How long does a resin driveway last?
A well-installed resin driveway on a sound base can last many years. The quality of the base, the resin system and the installation all affect lifespan. We explain what to expect for your drive in the quote.
Does a resin driveway need planning permission?
A permeable resin bound surface normally meets the rules for front gardens. A non-permeable surface may need planning permission or a drainage plan if it covers more than 5 square metres. See our planning guide.
Can you lay resin over my existing driveway?
Sometimes. If the existing tarmac or concrete is sound, flat and well drained, resin can often go on top. If it is cracked or moving, we will recommend repairs or a new base first.
How do I keep a resin driveway clean?
Brush off leaves and debris and wash it with water and a soft brush now and then. Avoid harsh chemicals and aggressive pressure washing. We give you full aftercare advice at handover.
