How we lay block paving
A compacted sub-base, an even bedding layer and edge restraints are the keys to lasting block paving. We build all three before laying, then lay the blocks in your chosen pattern, cut neatly at edges, compact and joint with sand.
We can include borders, soldier courses, steps and decorative inlays, and we can seal the surface to protect the colour and sand. See paving sealing.

Does block paving need sealing?
It is optional. Sealing can protect colour, lock in the joint sand and reduce weeds and staining.
Can you lay block paving over concrete?
Sometimes, if the concrete is sound and level. We inspect it first.
What is the best pattern?
Herringbone is strongest for vehicles. Stretcher bond and basket weave suit patios. We advise on the right choice.
