How Much Does a New Driveway Cost in London?
There is no single price for a driveway, because no two drives are the same. Here is what actually moves the cost, so you can judge a quote with confidence.

Size and shape
Most driveways are priced per square metre, so a larger area costs more in total. Curves, steps and awkward corners take longer to cut and finish, which can raise the rate. Larger, simple areas often work out cheaper per square metre.
The surface you choose
Gravel and tarmac are usually at the lower end, resin and block paving sit in the middle, and natural stone and porcelain cost most. Each has different upkeep and lifespan, so the cheapest surface is not always the cheapest over twenty years. See driveway materials compared.
Groundwork and base
Digging out the old surface, removing waste and building a proper sub-base is a big part of the job, and it is the part you cannot see later. A low quote often means a thin base. Ask what depth of stone is going in and whether the ground needs more.
Drainage, edging and extras
Drainage channels, kerbs, edgings, borders, lighting ducts and gates are usually priced separately. If your front garden is more than 5 square metres, permeable construction or a soakaway may also be needed.
Access and waste
Tight access, long carries and a lot of spoil to take away all add time. Skip hire and disposal charges should be on the quote.
