How it is made

Coloured concrete is poured, then patterned with moulds while still workable. It is then sealed.

Pros

Seamless and strong, with many patterns and colours. It can have no joints for weeds.

Cons

It can crack, colours can fade, and repairs are hard to hide. It is not permeable, so drainage must be designed.

Upkeep

It usually needs resealing every few years to protect colour and resist stains.

Is it right for you?

It suits people who want a patterned look without individual blocks. See imprinted concrete driveways and concrete driveways.
